70 years ago, when the esteemed textile industries in solapur were on their way to shut down, their employees and families had to suffer a lot. One of their then line-job mill employees, Kisanrao Guntappa Kshirsagar, quit his job and determined to make textile produce from the home-made handlooms, which he himself created with the available accessories.Giving his sons proper training and guidance, the jacquard design chaddars were started by him and his family, in the year 1948 and in no-time, it gained popularity in Solapur.
First when the handlooms were made, it came with challenges of putting lots of physical efforts. It was then advanced to power looms which ran on engine oil, before it could become advance and run on electricity, around the gradual years.
The very first jacquard textile produce was generated by Kshirsagar family, in Solapur. However, the self-made powerful Industrialist Kisanroa Kshirsagar, not just passed this technology of jacquard to his family but also to other industrialists who were in the same domain of textile manufacturing, but were still working on handlooms and powerlooms.. This ultimately led to Solapur city being the Leader in Textile Manufacturing in Maharashtra.
Chaddar Textile industry also had seen downfall in the market, around 1961, it was then the turkish towel was explored by Kisanrao Kshirsagar, as a result of his tour of Japan. All the looms that required to produce the turkish towels were developed in-house by him and his son Mr.Rangnath Kshirsagar, keeping in mind the cost-effectiveness facet.
From producing cotton shirt pants on handlooms, to now producing world class textile products of chaddars and towels, Kshirsagar textiles have come a long way. And still, maintains the vision of heading towards ever innovative products, to be at par with International markets.
